Motor Vehicle Accident
April 5, 2016
On April 5 2016, West Shore RCMP Constable Sarah Beckett, while working general duty, was struck and killed when her marked police car was struck by a pickup truck at a major intersection in Langford, British Columbia.
At approximately 3:30 am Tuesday morning, Cst. Beckett, 32 years, was travelling eastbound on Goldstream Road when it was struck by a pickup truck near the intersection of Peatt Road in the suburb of Langford, just outside Victoria BC. Paramedics were on scene shortly after, and tried to revive her. However, she was pronounced deceased just after 4 am. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries but later released to police custody pending an investigation.
Constable Beckett was a 11-year member of the West Shore RCMP Detachment, spending her entire career on Vancouver Island working in general duty, media relations and as an investigator with the integrated Major Crime Unit. Constable Beckett leaves behind her husband and two young children.

Lac-Simon Police Force - QC
February 13, 2016
On February 13, 26 year old Constable Thierry Leroux, of the Lac-Simon Police Force, and his partner, were responding to an emergency call when one shot was fired at the police killing Constable Thierry Leroux and sending his partner to hospital for shock.
At approximately 10:30 Saturday evening, Constable Leroux and his partner were dispatched to a domestic call in the tiny community of Lac-Simon, which is near Val d'Or, approximately 500 kilometres northwest of Montreal. When they arrived on scene, at least one shot was fired in their direction hitting Constable Leroux. It was not possible for them to react or return fire. Constable Leroux was taken to hospital where he died. Police found the suspect in the residence deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot.
Constable Leroux was originally from the community of Amos, about 100 km northwest of Lac-Simon. He was a member of the Lac-Simon Police Force for six months.
