Background

A number of years ago Allan De Genova came up with the concept of Honour House – a place where the Canadian Forces members and their families could go, free of charge, while they heal. He expanded this concept to include first responders. After locating an old house in New Westminster, BC and with the support of the City, many companies, and individuals, Allan opened the doors to Honour House on November 10, 2010.

Accommodation Program

Any Canadian Forces member, first responder or their families who require accommodation in the Vancouver area while their family or themselves are receiving treatment can ask for a referral from a base Military Families Resource Centre, their unit or Regimental Association, Departmental Headquarters or the service officers at any Royal Canadian Legion or Army Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada branch.

Leading hoteliers in Vancouver have generously agreed to provide free accommodation to the families of our troops and first responders who may require a place to stay should Honour House be full.

Additional Programs

Honour House provides referrals to programs offered by other organizations. At present these include counselling for issues related to operational stress and vocational skill development for military personnel. Ask Honour House staff for details.
